This event is hosted by Der Divan in Berlin and organized by the Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) in collaboration with the American University of Beirut. \nDate: Thursday\, September 5\nTime: 5:00 PM (Berlin time)\nVenue (in-person): Der Divan – Das Arabische Kulturhaus\, Schützallee 27\, 14169 Berlin \nSpeaker: Dr. Oxana Timofeeva (Institute for Global Reconstitution\, Berlin)\nDiscussants: Prof. Dr. Jens Hanssen (Director\, OIB) and Dr. Sami Khatib (Senior Research Associate\, OIB) \nOn the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Immanuel Kant (1724-1804)\, this series of lectures and panel discussions will explore Kantian concepts\, their legacies\, and their circulation. The event will focus on Kant’s influence on modern continental philosophy\, his concept of critique\, and the limitations of his Eurocentric notions of universality. We will also delve into the radical potentials of some of his key ideas that continue to shape philosophical discourse today.
